Both of my accounts were signed up for managed payments (I have business accounts, which is part of the group they are converting early on). I had quite a go trying to get all of my data confirmed, mostly because they won't tell you what the problem is if there is one - they just tell you they can't confirm it and you have to try something else.

Finally got over that hump and was told I'd be converted before the end of July. I have not yet been provided a date.

I posted a few listings on ebay, with my personalized stamps, in the past couple of days.
Managed payments? I'll have to read more about that.

Well it's mid November and I still haven't been invited (forced) into managed payments. Am I the only one? Sold coins many years ago on ebay but it's been so long, I don't see how that could be a factor.

I've been in MP since mid September. As soon as you are registered they give you access to the MP community. It was enough to scare me to death - very very negative.

I've been in for 2 months and I have not had a single problem, I actually like it a lot. I may not like it so much when tax time comes along but for now it works fine. I signed up for a weekly payment and all the payments received by Monday get transferred to my bank on Tuesday and show up late Tuesday or early Wednesday. With some mixed feelings I emptied out my Paypal account and pointed Paypal payments to my Business CC. I pay for my shipping labels via Paypal and now I earn an extra $1000 worth of miles each month.

I thank the early MP pioneers like Clark and I am sure they suffered but it seems to work fine.

Not yet. *knock on wood*

I have about 25 active coin listings though, so that may be a contributing factor.

I have contacted ebay and directed them to enroll Dan in MP immediately if not sooner.

Why are coin sales an impediment to managed payments. I have seen this mentioned a few times but have not seen or heard the reasoning.

Thanks
Rich

My guess is that it is due to the inclusion of precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium) which are commodities, so there may be special laws associated with them.

I know that historically there has been a problem with ebay applying sales tax to coin/bullion sales when many states exempt them from sales tax (Illinois for example does not tax the sale of coins).

Well at this point in time, I'm hoping nothing more will be forced upon us till after the new year. I'll be sorta semi kinda not really happy (compliant?) to sign up, just want to be sure it goes smooth during the holidays and not get my acct locked while stuff is sorted out on ebay's end of things.

Just give me till January baby...

Small update. Received the notice that I needed to be signed up and going by end of month. Not wanting last minute snafus, seemed pretty easy till they couldn't verify my bank info. No person to talk to of course. Had to go into the bank and get a printed & PDF statement. Emailed the statement, couple days later all gtg.

If ya haven't signed up and plan on it, the small snafu I had was that my name didn't match EXACTLY on both the ebay acct AND bank acct. One has my middle initial, one doesn't. Had my bank assistant print the statement out without the middle initial and viola, gtg.

Wasn't as bad as I'd feared. So far...
