I would like to learn more about the postmarks of classic era Germany, Austria and Belgium. I'm finding so much information on the web, though, that it's hard to tell where to start or what's accurate. Are there any particular books or websites that you would recommend as good ones for these countries? Thanks!
I suggest you visit the American Philatelic Research Library (online). There are many published books on these cancellations, and the APRL would be a good place to start.
Also, if you are a member of the Germany Philatelic Society (GPS, U.S.A.) then you have access to their philatelic library with more specialized material.
For German postmarks this site is an excellent start: https://www.stampsx.com/ratgeber/st...atenbank.php It covers more than just Germany but its strength is Germany and all German areas and territories.
