Scott 2184 - What Causes These Marks....???

Was wondering what these colour shifts could be caused by.
If they were just on one side of an object/person affected it could be explained by colour shift.

But if you look at this Scott "Christmas Card" stamp, look at the position of the colours...Not exactly sure what causes this oddity.

Any ideas..??

I think it was intentional same as the pink on the snowman's left shoulder. Artistic license.
