a friend & collector asks me to put these questions, because he has no computer and also his English is very rusted.
Where was this cancel used and during which period?
We both hope that it's not difficult fo a knowing person.

Heinrich, it is called a cogwheel cancel used in San Francisco during the 1860's. Much info can be found here:
