Does Anyone Use A US Catalog Other Than The Scott Specialized One? Why?

I am thinking about investing on a new US Catalog. One thing that I don't like about Scott is how bulky it is. Also not the easiest to navigate and find stamps. Just curious if I should consider other catalogs beside Scott for US stamps. Thanks!

Durland catalog is also quite useful. But Scott specialized is the go to catalog

You might like the catalog that I think is still put put by Scott thru the USPS - I think it is called the Pocket Catalog - not as detailed as the Specialized, but as a beginner you do not need the Specialized (or Durland which is focused on plate numbers)

I use the "Postal Service Guide to U.S. Stamps", which has Scott numbering and values (I presume from Scott). For my budget Scott is expensive ... I notice that the "2020 Scott Specialized Catalogue Of United States Stamps And Covers" is "on sale" for $104.99. I used to check out Scott catalogs from my local library but in recent years they seem to be chronically checked out with a several week waiting list.

I have the 42nd Edition of the Postal Service Guide to U.S. Stamps (2015) and would like to update, but unfortunately the USPS hasn't undated since the 44th Edition (2017), which is sold out on their web site. It and older editions seem available on the secondary market (Amazon, ebay, used book sellers). I can't compare it directly with the Scott Specialized but it has been more than adequate for my U.S. stamp identification needs.

I would second the suggestions already made. Those are the best options available.

If you want to simply ID a US stamp to a Scott catalog number, you could request a free catalog from Mystic Stamps. They are licensed to use Scott numbers.

Be forewarned!! You will get a free catalog but you will also have to beat back their initial offer of approvals and you will get a blizzard of advertising material.

Has every US stamp, is fully searchable, has every plate number, is most complete US tagging reference available anywhere, and is totally free.

I have an H.E Harris 2018 that works pretty well ,but nothing beats Scott Specialized.

You might try looking on ebay for U.S. pages from Scott vol 1A. There are ebay sellers who sell Scott pages by country.
Added: As long as a non-Scott catalogue uses Scott numbers, you would likely be OK. But if a different numbering system is used, you would need to worry about having a cross-reference as most of the U.S. marketplace uses Scott numbers.
