Just received my copy of Spink/Maury. Very pleased, indeed impressed. A beautiful catalogue: hard-cover, large color photos on glossy pages, for classics a single stamp per page, a great layout, very easy to use. High quality in every respect. I particularly like the strictly chronological order of issues. No grouping together of design types irrespective of date, as Scott routinely does, and as even Yvert and Michel sometimes do. Relieved to find that Maury and Yvert nevertheless use the same numbering system throughout. Stamp #85 in Maury is the same stamp #85 in Yvert. The two catalogues are therefore fully compatible: not obliged to use only one or the other.
What about the amount of information and level of detail? Maury has more of both than the standard Yvert, yet not as much of either as in the large-format Yvert Catalogue Specialisé. The latter also has far more explanatory text but no color photos. Indeed, the Specialisé has fewer photos of any sort, and is not so easy to use. In sum, I shall now use Maury primarily, but supplement it with the overall richness of the Yvert Specialisé.

Spink introduced a two-volume version in 2019 (later material is in the second, paperback, volume), but I don't know whether they've continued this practice. |

By the description, the 2020-2021 edition appears to be a single volume.
My 2019 is two, the 1960- volume is softcover. |

Hopefully someday Spink will release new versions for the French colonial volumes Maury produced. My copies from the early 2010s are needing replacement before they fall apart completely |

Tks all. I did some more looking online and find none(in English that listed both volumes) that I remember seeing in US for sale - so far. As mentioned the Publisher site says 2 vol's but all I see listed is one. I did order the Amazon one so ill fond out soon. Barnes&Noble even said they had a 2019, listed as one vol. also. |

My 2018 edition came in two volumes. 1850 to 1960 was hard cover with 1961 to date being a nicely done softcover. Quite happy with both and a definite good value as catalogs go. |

Would love to see new editions for the French colonies. A popular collecting area, it seems there would be uptake for new ones after 10 years. |

So, I had called Amazon to confirm the set as 2 vol even though it was listed as one volume. They said it was only one vol as described. But I took a chance and ordered it anyway. it was del today. Luck me - its 2 volumes as its suppose to be BUT, its in french NOT English (as described). Oh well..... Back it goes. :( Id love to have a good reference set that includes French and French Colonies and Territories - in English. Still looking. |
