I received these 2 stamps listed as 184 and 207. Can anyone please help to identify. They don't seem to be 184 and 207 to me. But I could be wrong. After I look at a stamp for so long I just start getting confused and seem to get all the identification factors mixed up. Here is the first stamp.

Here is the second stamp.

I hope I uploaded the photos ok.
Thanks for any help.

Carabop, can you say why you do not believe these to be 184 and 207 (not necessarily in that order)?

The top one has the shading under the tail and the line under the TS on cents making it 207 but the backing to me looks like hard paper and green color paper not blue-green.
The second stamp having no shading under the tail and no line under the TS makes me think it is 184 or 147. And looks to me like soft paper. But again I can be completely wrong. I have gotten so confused trying to figure out the difference between the 184 and 147 that I decided to put the stamps up her for clarification. It doesn't take much to get me confused.
Thanks again for the help.

I think you might be overthinking here. The first stamp, as you say, has the dash under the TS so is #207, case closed. Be careful of giving too much weight to minor color differences, especially on a stamp that is well over 100 years old. Colors change over time.

The second stamp in fact does appear to have the heavy shading under the top left ribbon, so is either #158 (hard paper) or #184 (soft paper). The paper type cannot be seen in the photo (at least not by me).

Thank you dudley and Caper123. Yes I am in agreement on 207 after looking at it further and comparing it to a known soft paper stamp the backs match. I will take your word and the word of the place I received the stamps from that the second one is 184. I see more of an outline then shading. But then again I do not see well. I probably shouldn't fret so much about such inexpensive stamps but I do want to put them in my album in the correct spot. Thank you again for your help.

carabop, for comparison here is a cropped portion of a #147. You can see that the shading under both ribbons beneath THREE is of uniform thickness, while in your stamp the shading beneath the upper ribbon is noticeably thicker than beneath the lower ribbon.

dudley, I did look at my stamp again and do see what you are saying. Now I can put them in my album in the correct spot knowing they truly are 207 and 184. Thank you.
