Here is a block of Scott 516 "Sir Alexander Mackenzie" stamps.
I did not notice some thing different...Imagine me a flyspecker
not seeing this oddity.

Anyways, The CBN No.1 has some thing I have never seen before.
It Says ""From Govt. Archives Photo""....Weird, set me straight
is this normal...???

Hi Robert, This is normal procedure for publishing anything used from the Government Archives. They have copyright to all their material. You have to pay a fee to the archive in order to get permission to publish barrowed material and normally you have to mention it is copyrighted archive material you are using. They fulfilled this reguirement by adding it to the imprint.

Mike...Are you saying that an average stamp collector could possibly have this item in his collection, or is it just a picture that would be downloaded from the archives...??

Robert, The printers added the "From Government Archives Photo..." as part of the imprint so they could use the copied image and fulfill the copy right requirements. Anyone can own the stamps.
