For me, I don't see a Subscription button for most of the Forums off to the right. Is there something I need to do to see that? I really only want to subscribe to the US Precancels, but find it strange that not all of the Forums are subscribable.
I don't think you can subscribe to the entire US Precancel group. I believe you can only reply to the individual threads. Two different ways, as shown below.

Forum Subscriptions are allowed in only some forums; this prevents overwhelming the email system and members inboxes. With thousands and thousands of members, having an email sent every time a new post hits a forum gets out of hand quickly.

In addition to what has already been said.... Emails are one of the biggest resource hogs for the server. Also allowing too many to be sent (like it forum and category subs were allowed) will get us on blacklists quick. Plus, people have no idea what they're getting into then just get mad when the emails start rolling in for every single post.
