The difference between Printing I and II is the color of the paper and gum. In cat. Scott and Michel are also mentioned drawing differences between the stamps of the 2 series. I failed to determine the differences for these 2 values. The stamp on the left is "Printing I". Thank you for help.
Not a great arrow placement but it's pretty clear to me that the top of the "peak" in Cupram's image has a prominent area of white on the right-hand example compared to the left-hand example.
The image of these stamps in Cupram's original post clearly show the variety, to my eyes. The one on the left has a much whiter "crotch," vs. the one on the right that has more shading in that area.
shermae-my first look at the images in Michel's catalog was also the white area. But under a sufficient magnification it is no longer so obvious. Johan's "snake like a line" sign near right foot is much more obvious. The image posted is Printing II.
I hope someone has a good resolution image with the stamp Scott #162 or 181a.
