Frank,
What's happening above the "T" of Australia ?
Flaw or scratch or rubbing?

Hard to say. There doesn't seem, by feel, to be physical damage. The (14)g varieties so perfectly match the ACSC illustrations that there doesn't seem to be a chance that the stamp comes from another position. So at best, I put it down to an "oddity"; at worst it could still be physical damage.

Frank.

Another BW 96, this time 96(13)g - White flaws in top frame over right wattles and diffuse white flaw on Kangaroo. The flaw on the Kangaroo is not always present per note in ACSC. My personal feeling, however, is that it would be difficult to identify this variety just by the top frame flaw as this looks quite like an inking problem that appears common on KGV Sidefaces.

Plate 13, Left Pane, Position 60.

BW 96 was the only issue to use Plate 13.

On Page 6, (https://goscf.com/t/74251&whichpage=6#664199) I showed the BW 82 variety from Plate 3, Pane VI, position 27. It is worth noting that this is most likely a Re-entry. Here is another example.

Plate 1, Pane I, has a total of 10 positions where there is damage to the Lower Frame resulting in 18 varieties listed in D.M. Neil's }The 1d King George V Australian Commonwealth Stamps. These, are listed in the following table. As the Neil study was published in 1947, it is likely that other varieties have since been isdentified. The table also shows those varieties listed in ACSC.

The three varieties associated with Position 16 are shown in Page 10 of this Topic.

This post includes another of these varieties, from Position 21 - Lower frame dented upwards under N of ONE/

The example shown is on BW 82 (SG 125) with Crown/CofA watermark. As the variety was first seen in 1928, it will laso be presnr on BW 81 (Small multiple watermark - SG 86).

Another BW 82 (SG125) this time with a double variety. There is a nick in the upper frame 1¼ mm from the top right corner. location indicated by the blue arrow. The Neil study says that this is often filled, as in this case, in on stamps which are well or over inked. The second variety feature is a diagonal white flaw on the emu's leg.

The position of this variety is Plate 4, Pane VII, Position 36. The variety appeared in mid- 1917 and was also present on all later latter issues.

Here's one that is in ACSC - 82(4)p Scratch behind kangaroo - on Plate 4, Pane 8, Position 32.

The D.M. Neil study states that this variety is difficult to see on well-inked examples so based on Neil's description, I have included a second close up with the scratch's path, starting to the right of the 6th wattle and ending at the left border 12½ mm from the top corner.

This BW 82 (SG 125) comes from Plate 3, Pane VI, Position 12. The upper left frame is somewhat thickened upwards from a point level with the top of the third wattle as indicated by the blue arrow in the close-up illustration.

First seen in 1915 and present in all issues to Final.
