- 1d BW 82 / SG 125 Variety not listed in either catalogue
- First state; normal

- Third state
- The second state flaws as above
- L of AUSTRALIA has a rectangular projection from its base
- Break in left Frame running NE to SW about 11¾mm from bottom left corner. Often filled in with inking and not visible in this example.
- 1929 to Final
- Plate 4, Electro VIII, Position 55 (VIII/55)

I have a 1½ with no top to the crown. The same as this one but mine is brown. I presume it is SG 78. Can anyone help please. The second stamp, also a 1½ brown has what I thought was an eighth wattle but it is totally different to the one later on this page. Guidance please. I hope people see this. You are preventing entropy, and continuing a discipline. 2nd stamp. Cannot see any similar, you need a specialist to chime in.
PS: It is good philatelic practice, for any ID, if possible, to include Wmk (watermark) and perforation guaging details.

Boreraig, I would place your first stamp as Electro 9, Left pane, Position 30 (9L30). This is listed in the BW ACSC as 85(9)i. Source: 2022 BW KGV Australian Commonwealth Specialists' CatalogueThe flaw on the second stamp is not listed in the KGV ACSC but it looks to be Electro 8, Left pane, Position 23 (8L23). Thanks FDS, So 2007 Brusden White is out of date Shows as 85 (9)h The broken shading between the Emu's legs confirms your ID Don't think I have read Bill Fioras monograph, shall have to look for that. |

Test your skill (and resources) challenge - not an easy one to find the plate and position. |

I was closing catalogue, stumped, no idea, everthing looked OK perhaps the bottom right hand serif was a bit thin. As I closed the book, I spotted it My catalogue is 2007, so not listed Is it the "notch" upper left frame design, just above the Wattles ? |

That's the correct flaw, Rod222. The next part of the challenge is to identify the plate and position. |

I, for one cannot do that, Fairdinkum, as my out of date catalogue (2007)
I watch with interest. It's extraordinary, when I consider I stared at that stamp for a good ten minutes, completely missing that notch. The Wattles always annoys me, I find it hard to ever find flaws in them.

Hi all, My father wasn't interested in "officials" and didn't generally sort them or clean them. However I gather they are now collectable. This turned up in a bundle of 1½d KGV reds. It is perf 13½ x 12½ which makes it a small multiple watermark. I can't exactly claim the OS is sideways as only the S and part of the O is present. But would anyone be interested? |

Boreraig, Your perfin is SG.2 used by Sargood, Gardiner Ltd., Warehousemen, 61-73 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, Victoria. Used 1927-1940. Source: Handbook of Australian Private Perfins, Edited by John Mathews. Below is an example of mine (reversed to match your orientation) with a double strike cluttering it , so I have deleted and patched the holes in the mockup on the far right. |
