Hello all! I recently thought I discovered a C76b (tagging omitted) variety but I just received the certificate back today and looks like its a plain ole C76.

Here is the technique I used when I was trying to determine if I had found a variety (I put the suspect stamp next to a confirmed C76 and looked at them both in the dark with a shortwave UV light)

My question is, should I be doing additional steps in my identification process? Should I be looking at these under loops?

Thanks :D

Dgwhite, from your picture it looks like an untagged stamp, but the stamp can not have even a speck of taggant for the certification folks to be a true untagged stamp

Untagged is just like a missing color - as Peter said "the stamp can not have even a speck of taggant for the certification folks to be a true untagged stamp". I believe the standard used for missing colors is none visible with 30x magnification, not just by what you can see with your naked eye.
