Essentially sight unseen. Volume does not equate to value. I could put together 5-6 paper cases I would be thrilled to get $100 for. |

Before posting on Craigslist they likely had 1 or more dealers look and decline. |

The stamps are $100, but the silverfish are free. I would have repackaged the stamps on the spot and discard all original packing materials. |

" Battle " is right ,you need to stop at the dollar store or the hardware store and buy those $1.00 plastic shoe boxes with snap on lids and those large plastic containers with snap on lids at the hardware store . Transfer the stamps leaving behind as much as trash like cardboard boxes and musty smell before you store it in your garage . Then sort it be again outside before bring it into the house . |

You get 'attic finds' all the time on ebay. Most of them are fake. One guy I knew listed all his stamp lots for several years as 'found in the attic'. Maybe he put them up there and then 'found' them again a week later. |

Plus the barn story is probably bogus. Tried to make it sound like a Herman Herst-style find. |

"barn find" are the magic words to add value to anything. I used to attend country auctions quite often and every time the stuff was in a barn attendance was high as was bidding. Then a friend told me that one particular auctioneer would move other estate material to a barn property to boost interest and value. |

Just because the barn was 100 years old doesn't say anything about when the stuff was put in there |

Yeah, I have a 100 plus yr old barn and I find stuff in there all the time I forgot I had. There was also the danger that each box contained glassine wrapped chunks of stamps all stuck together. |
