This 50 Yen Stamp Has No "Nippon"

This stamp has no word "Nippon" on it but has an ink stamp with the word "Japan" and the date 1962.
If it is an overprint then where can I find examples of others like mine?
Is it an error of omission?
I have attached two other images from: Pinterest.com and Stampworld for comparison.

The 50y dark brown without NIPPON was issued in 1952. Not an error.

I agree, your stamp is not an error. Looking at the Scott catalog, it appears that "Nippon" was not added to Japanese stamps until 1966. The black ink is a standard cancel, not an overprint. The other two stamps are from a later series.

For what it's worth, the first two Japanese characters read "Ni" and "Hon" meaning Nihon or Nippon. So it's on the stamp in Japanese, just not in English.
