If I remember metered came into use sometime in the 20's. This was in an older album that I was breaking down and made me wonder at what point did metered stamps become more prolific?

Interesting link. Thanks for posting redwoodrandy. I thought this was of particular interest from the perspective of why 5 values on a single strip. Why would it not have been one for .49¢? Curious.

Many of the early meter machines were fixed value. They could only imprint a 0.02 cent value, or whatever value they were set up to imprint.

My WAG, the meter was incapable of printing a higher denomination than 20c.

According to the Meter mail Wiki this design (Pitney Bowes DB1.1) had values to $1.

Forgot to add the rarity factor legend

Also, yours are "on tape" and on some meters it carries a premium but I can't say if yours does but the full covers go for a bit more. I believe the first meter was right before the turn of the century and they are very scarce.
