If I remember correctly the data released by the Postal Service at the time of issuance actually said that they were selling MINI-press sheets of 3 panes even though the actual press sheet consisted of 15 panes. I wonder if the reason for selling the mini-press sheets was that the larger correct press sheet would have cost $3442.50. Even the smaller press sheet of 3 cost $668.50 face value.
there were 250 mini-press sheets printed for a total of 750 imperf panes or 7,500 imperforate stamps.
