Anyone have an luck? I was fortunate enough to win one lot for me and one lot for resale. They seem to go out of their way in their descriptions of their larger lots, which is appreciated. Some lots flew way over estimate, one large one of US private die match / medicine revenues that was estimated at $800 - $1000 closed at $11.5K plus tip ! Only thing that sux is there's no audio. I had to multi-task in my stamp den just to keep awake...
There were some nice M&M's in that lot, but someone seriously overpaid for it. Most of the items in the lot are the same issues that are regularly found in almost any large lot. Two of the three scarcest stamps had condition issues, even for M&M's. Possibly all three. Nice duplication of some lower level items, but to me it was a $3500 to $4000 lot under normal circumstances. Apparently a couple of people really wanted it. Several of the other revenue lots also went very well.
The Revenue lot accumulation went for stupid money too IMHO. $4k inc buyers premium? Yes there were a some nicer items but also a TON of low value items and quite a few of the higher $ stuff didn't look very good to me. Plus....add in all the part perfs that can't be seen first hand and that is a gamble.
Or maybe I just don't know what the heck I'm talking about and missed a gem of a lot. Figured it was a collector bidding to keep some and sell the rest which would work but I can't see making back $4k on that lot selling outright. Hope I'm wrong for the buyers good fortune though.
The M&M lot? I closed my browser at $5k, shook my head and went out for a drive.
At least that lot had a large quantity of first issues, including some better values. So some collector might get enough out of it to be happy selling off the rest and feeling it worth it. But anyone who bought it for resale......
