Over the past week there have been several replies to your threads encouraging you to obtain a set of Scott catalogs. Have you made any progress on this?

No because we dont have any cataloges here in Palestine, and what is the problem if I asked a thousand time?? What is the purpose of this forum if it not allowed to ask or inquire informations???

This is the first time I have seen your location posted. Asking questions is fine, although figuring out how to obtain catalogs will enhance your collecting experience as one of the basic items like tongs, a perforation gauge, or a watermark tray. Short of a catalog, the stampsmarter.com site will take you a long way toward understanding the U.S. items. Enjoy!

Waelshami, the stamp smarter website may be a good place for you to investigate your stamps.

Asking questions about each and every one of your stamps without initiating a search on your own may not be the best approach.

Mr. Shami here belongs to a few Facebook groups. He has been told, repeatedly, where to gather information regarding stamps and postmarks. I, personally have given him the links to Stamp Smarter, to assist him. Also, beware if asked to buy/sell/trade. He has been accused of running a scam.... saying he will purchase an item and then cheat you out of the payment. I am not saying he does this, but others have accused him of it. Just making anyone here aware of his reputation in other groups.

You tried to sell me something but refused to do Paypal. You wanted Western Union or a Bank Transfer. That is a Red Flag within itself. Tells me all I need to know. Report me for what?.....telling the truth? Go ahead....no sweat off my forehead.

After doing some discovery I will say it this way...
As waelshami notes himself in the post above, he is selling stamps on FaceBook. In my opinion and based upon his short history in this community it is clear that he does not have much experience nor does he have much hobby reference material. Trying to sell stamps without either experience or hobby reference material is typically going to end badly for all involved.

That said, I think it is a good thing that waelshami is trying to learn more but I also think that he is using the community as a free appraisal service. I am going to let this thread stand for now.

For the OP's original question your stamp is a Type V Scott #24.

As a general rule, especially for straightforward US stamp identification questions such as posed here and elsewhere by OP, I do not think it is out of line to refer to stampsmarter rather than respond directly, especially given all the work Don has put into it for the benefit of those like OP.

By now Mr. waelshami will have realized that the internet alone won't do. And of course he understands that he can't expect Forum members to continue identifying his stamps, one by one. He needs a catalogue of his own. Fortunately used copies are easily found on ebay. Libraries, even in far flung locations, will usually have some as well. But if he still needs help or advice from others, Mr. waelshami will no doubt appreciate the importance of polite exchanges.
