Several years ago a ban was placed on *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. *** after they spammed this site.
Since then, they and stampworld remain the two main sites for online catalogs that are not expertized like big blue and stamp-collecting-world.
In some areas, like variations, they complete the data from stampworld.
In some cases even this forum's bedrocks used screenshots and references to them, swirling to avoid using their name.
Can the ban be lifted now, not for their benefit, but for the benefit of the members here?
Whatever you decide, thanks for hearing (reading) me out.

As shown above, 'working around' disallowed words is not acceptable and some folks have had their accounts locked because of this.

There is one way I can think of that might cause Bobby to reconsider his decision; support this community. These sites don't support the community even through there are multiple ways to do this and instead decided to take advantage of the community. If they cared about the hobby or this community they would reach out and buy a small ad or sponsor a category for a few dollars. It ought to speak to the community members that they (and many other philatelic companies and organizations) have not done this.

It is also questionable in my mind that these sites are a benefit to the hobby. They are less than transparent with how they are making money by selling user's information. Over the next few years I think we are going to see much more disclosed about information ownership and usage.

Thank you both for reading and responding.
I did not know all the facts.
I will not bother you again with this.

This is meaningless to anyone who doesn't know what website you are referring to, and that includes me. Do we get to know?

As for the causes of the apparent problem:
Apparently some other (unnamed) website has not supported this website enough by buying ads here. I'm not sure what to think about that one.
They also don't publicize how they make money. Ditto for that one.
And they allegedly "stole money" from someone.

This is really vague. Do we get to know more -- or is it supposed to remain vague?

So you think it would be best to publish their name? How does that make any sense at all?

One of the great things about a community like this is that everyone has the freedom not use it, if this forum is not for you then find a different one that better supports your views.

I am in the same boat as DrewM; I have only an inkling of what is being talked about in this thread.

bobby131313 - If there is a bad apple that you feel is doing harm to the hobby, why not call them out more explicitly?

The owners-moderators here feel that the unnamed site has treated them so badly, they refuse to drive any traffic or draw any attention to it. So it will not be named, ever. It's as simple as that, and if you can't accept it or don't know the name, tough. Life is not fair.

If you try to post it, you'll know. Otherwise no, you don't get to know. My sandbox, my rules. Don't like it? Too bad. Just because you don't understand, doesn't make my reasons any less valid.

Ever hear the saying... "No such thing as bad press?" They get NO press from here.

Or, as the philosopher MC Hammer would say, "can't touch this."

Many folks apparently have never heard of traffic arbitrage, traffic is a currency.
