Ux22 Violet Straight Line Marking

I recently acquired this UX22 for my Pacific Coast Steamship Co. postal history and ephemera collection. It bears a violet straight line marking, near the cancellation, which I am presuming to be a docketing mark by the recipient. Does anyone have a different opinion? Thanks.
