I have been working through a bunch of Ajman stamps and came across two that I can't seem to find in my Michel catalogue. One is "Eve" by Albrecht Dürer and the other "Harmony or Three Graces" by Hans Baldung. Any help identifying these two, especially Michel Catalogue numbers, would be most appreciated.

These are toughies, they will be around Mi#2250 1972 (Pompeii paintings) they share the same format, design and text and value borders.
I am searching Michel, not been able to crack them just yet.
Best bet so far, would be 1973 Mi2571-2586 "Nudes" 16 values (no images avail for ID)
These would at least conform to 16 diff values, Yours being 1.25 riyals, and 4 riyals.
A lot of Ajman nudes are all of 1 Riyal value.

Rod, They're not from that set. I'm not finding these two anywhere on the Internet... yet. I love a challenge on a Monday morning. BTW, here's MiNr. 2571-2586: |

Haven't been able to find a catalog number yet, but here's a sheet of 60 with those in it. |

Bravo Postmaster. Great image, that last ! Now I can catalogue my unknown stamps. They are the Pompeii paintings. I did not know, Durer painted in Pompeii Some shown in that sheet are the Pompeii Mosaics. I see also "Stained glass windows" What a hodge podge, but a fantastic sheet to ID those issues. Minkus Ajman catalogue only goes to 1972. |

It looks like there are multiple sets in one sheet, since Michel doesn't list a set that large. The lack of photos in Michel makes IDing them a pain. |

Indeed, however that sheet solves so many questions. (and raises others)
Example Mi#2481 to 2483 Mosaics Dog, two cocks, Pigeons and a cat.
They certainly exist, but NOT as se-tenant
As far as that sheet is concerned, Michel is in error.
------------------
Row 3 Stamp 5, is the same as Row 2 stamp 10, but in a different shade (read disgusting quality)

I'll spend some time working on it,
However, I doubt very much we can offer a Mi# number to RRogers, I think those two will remain unlisted. We can just offer the sheet position and the year date of 1972

Rod, I don't think Michel is in error, unless it's by omission -- looks like they were available in multiple formats. I'm working on assigning numbers to all the stamps on that piece of a sheet. There are some stamps missing due to it being less than a full sheet, and it's also missing all of the landscape format ones that were typically the middle stamp in the 3-stamp se-tenants. |

The large image posted by Rod (Postmaster) was originally posted by me. It is a photoshop edit of two part sheets I found somewhere online a long time ago. I have Michel #s for all but the two at the bottom left. If there is interest I will make a list of the #s and post it here. You can find a lot of images at a couple of other reference sites I use but don't think I can publicly post them here; pm me if you want the reference site urls. |

I'm fairly confident at this point that the only images on the Internet of those two stamps are within this thread, except for the ebay lot from which I pulled the sheet image. Which is weird. rrogers, are you sure that's the same image you created, because I pulled that from an open auction with multiple photos? Unless, of course, you're the seller! |

I am getting the feeling, all these labels come in sets of 3. 2 with neutral border/value tablets, and 1 coloured. We seem to be missing all the coloured stamps. Note: first label here is a "tab" Ajam?...this pesky HP keyboard ! Note: all bottom labels are black borders. |

Hey Rod I think you do indeed have a different image than mine. I'll look for it tomorrow and post here (I don't have the image on this computer). IIRC it was folded in the images I saw so I stitched them together to try to figure out what was what. I got most of it except these two. They all are part of 'triplets' with a 2x size stamp in the middle. As noted by others I haven't seen many of the middle stamps except in pictures. Its hard to imagine that the Michel catalogue missed these! But, I haven't seen them anywhere except in these images and my collection :-) |
