Here are a couple of odd looking stamps from Manama that I came across today. They are similar to Michel Nos. 941aA and A941aA, moon and earth in gold frames. The unusual thing is that they appear to be inverted...

Internet image on left and my stamp on right

As always, any assistance is appreciated.

I have them as a block (25x yellow frame) as Michel Nr 929
Row 1 stamp 1
Row 2 stamp 4

They are 3 space stamps, somehow mixed in with Fauna and mediterranean Fish.
Someone was smoking something.

Inverts not seen before.

PS: these labels are Ajman / Manama to be accurate.

Note: sometimes these labels come in two formats, Large and small.

Hey Rod,
The internet images I used for comparison don't show the gold frame very well. They are shown for image comparison only. I can't quite figure out how mine were printed. There is a third one of a rocket that is similarly inverted. I don't have my catalogue available here so I will check your reference nos. tomorrow. As you are aware a lot of the stamps were printed with gold frames and yellow frames. I noticed today when looking at some A/M bird stamps that the ones with gold frames seem to be printed on top of the yellow frame stamps.
Cheers

They're not inverted in the usual sense - if you look at the images, they are the right way up - the stamp has been re-designed to place the text at the top.

I'll dig out my Trucial States catalogue and see if they are listed.

Nope, not in my catalogue either. The usual ones are listed as gold frame and as yellow frame, but none of the sets in this 'design series' have any mention of printings with the text at the top.

Here they are again, though: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Manama-S...AOSwAThcL8hK

Hey Rod22
Here are a couple of screen captures from my Michel catalogue. It shows the main listings as having a gold frame and a note saying they were also printed with yellow frames. As mentioned earlier the ones with gold frame appear to be printed on top of the yellow frame stamps.

Thanks to Ringo too for finding another example of the re-designed space stamps.

Judging by the large sheet of mixed stamps posted to my Ajman enquiry and the yellow block posted here by Rod22 it seems that large sheets of similarly sized stamps were printed and then broken up for sale as individual stamps. These large sheets don't seem to be listed anywhere that I can find. Some of the Ajman stamps may have been printed in the triplet format but the large press sheets might explain why the book-end stamps of the triplets are more prevalent than the larger center stamps.

Since these were also available imperf, I wonder if what you have is a sheet that was either perforated incorrectly at the time of printing or an imperf that was later privately perforated, with the perfs shifted such that the value is that of the stamp above in the sheet. Doesn't seem likely considering what it would take for this to happen, and the spacing doesn't appear right, but there doesn't seem to be a good explanation. Likely just another printing that isn't cataloged anywhere.
