R4 stamp 4 = Galilleo
R3 Stamp 3 Robert Goddard
R2 stamp 3 = Jules Verne
R2 stamp 4 = Chinese telescope
R4 Stamp 3 = Arthur C Clarke
R2 Stamp 2 = Telstar ?

Nice to see the interest in Ajman from members

Current sit rep
I have 1,433 Ajman stamps catalogued of the 3,600 listed to 1973

Some appear to be produced later than 1973
some still unidentified.
Every time I read Michel, I discover a new ID it seems.

I did some googling and found this description for the painting...

Thailand's King Narai, his court and French astronomers observing the total solar eclipse of 30 April 1688 at Lopburi, while the nobleman Phetracha crouches to view the eclipse projected on a screen.

So it was well known then, not look directly at a solar eclipse.
I wonder how many lost their sight in that journey.
