Given my recent rejoining of APS have begun receiving a variety of new and interesting sales and auction catalogues etc. Including a large packet from Vance Auctions (Ontario, Canada) promoting its upcoming Feb 2021 auction.
In recent weeks believe there has been discussion on SCF of creating an online reference of fakes, forgeries, etc.
The Vance packet included a "Specials" listing entitled "SP 17 Fake and Forgeries. Three stockcards full of various fakes, forgeries, and reprints. Primarily 19th Century items with USA Locals, Confederate States, Heligoland, German States, Austria Danube Steamship Co., Belgium, Haiti, Samoa, etc. Many VG-VF." (135)
While am certain my WW collection includes a number of heretofore unidentified fakes/forgeries, this has not been an area which I have pursued. However, thought the sales item might be of interest to other SCF members.
