Outside of the one I have that's used and the one your saying is worth cents, what's the difference from those to this one? If you don't mind me asking, so I know what the difference is.

I think I might not be asking the proper questions on the stamps. I get that the majority of all stamps that came in this bin appear to be "workhorses" but some of them have certain "types" that are more rare then others. If that's the case, then from pictures alone, then can this easily be decided or can some of them be a rare type that can not be decided by the pictures alone?

On this ebay listing, what I notice is that the seller has 0 feedback, and only one winning bid at the price. This is VERY suspicious to me. I would not use this as a comparison for valuation.

To answer your question, yes, there are sometimes scarcer varieties based on perforations, watermark, design, paper, color, that may be evaluated, but the liklihood is high that yours is the common variety.

Even the description of the ebay listing is wrong. It is not a cancelled stamp and even if it was it would raise the catalogue value from 25 cents to $1.50. I have checked my Michel specialized catalogue and the only high value that I can find is for the blue-green variety on an actual mailed envelope and that would raise the value to 100 Euros. Neither yours nor the one listed on ebay qualify for this. I would suggest that the ebay listing is a scam.

Everybody and his brother are now trying to sell one of these for a small fortune (~$500)...from many different accounts all over the USA. Are these folks connected or saw that sale and had the stamp so jumped on the bandwagon.....Strangest thing I've seen lately. Have a look at the link below: (I don't know how to make it 'conform').

I love this one.

174391134293

"Deutrches Reich German Empire 1923 Overprinted Stamp 250 Saufend /500 Orange"

I wonder what 250 guzzling this seller is talking about.
For the non-German speakers: "saufend" means guzzling. "Tausend" means thousand.

And that German s is so difficult. This guy, truly, is an expert and very reliable.
