Quote: Only to show that I don't believe it's printed on the back as someone previously mentioned. It appears that it is printed on the front because there's adhesive on the back. Then it is printed on blank selvedge paper, or the stamp is suffering severe light or chemical damage. |

You could create your own colour guide that way :)
As an aside, my wife sells stamps on Etsy, and she has buyers that like to buy groups of certain colours - usually for use in art projects (like scrapbooking). |

Waddsbadds - I thought and noticed the same thing. It is actually interesting and pleasing how they organized by color. stamp rainbows. :) |

If it's suffering from damage then why would there be anything on it at all? If the words are printed on the front, I don't understand how it would be damaged and the words would still show. Not sure what selvedge paper is will look into it. Doubtful that it's damaged only because the words should be damaged as well. |

Okay so it's just something printed on the leftover edges of the stamp paper and is not an actual stamp and has no collectibility factor then correct? |

Quote: and has no collectibility factor then correct? Incorrect, it is YOU, whom creates the parameters of your collection. Tread your own path. I, personally would collect it, I collect Belgium, and it is a nice piece of "spice" for an album page. You have lots to learn, enjoy the journey. YES! a stamp image can disappear and still leave the Opt, it is the pigment in the colour of the stamp, that disappears, not the black ink. Check out my CYPRUS stamp. Ever heard of the phrase "Bleached by the sun"? |

The person I got them from put them by color and stuck them to the paper. I do like the way they look by color but I'm not sure that's the way that I would do it. I think by country then each country by age would make it easier for me to keep track of but im not a stamp collector. I do collect things though and if it were stamps I wouldn't have stuck them to paper especially the unused ones and I for sure wouldn't have outlined them with a pencil. That's why I wasn't hopeful that there would be any value to any of them. I think my original thought of using all of the stamps from this collection especially the ones that are in multitudes, to make album cover inserts (pages to insert in the front of the binder/album that would make the cover) may be the best use for all of the cut squares, meter stamps, stamps, etc. since they hold no collectibility. Maybe in doing so they'll find a new use instead of tossing them.

Oh no I inherited these, not a collector. I collect too many other things currently to start stamps. Just trying to make sure that I don't make an art project out of the collectible ones is all. |

These are all common stamps, and an art project is as good a use as any for them. If you soak the stamps off the pages, you can take it from there. Enjoy! |

I recommend you remove them right away, the paper (and stamps) have toned, note how yellow it is. This means that the paper is acidic and is causing damage. If you have ever seen an old, brittle, yellowed newspaper then this is what these pages and stamps will look like in the future if you do not get them off this paper. I would scan the pages to keep the family memories/work, and then remove/soak the stamps. Don |

Okay will try it and see if I can get it to work. Guess it might be worth it since there's one on there that looks like it just sold for $250 on ebay although there might be some difference that I'm not catching. The 800 printed over 1000 is the one but maybe there's a watermark or something more that I wouldn't know being different since I don't collect them. |

The 800 overprint on the 1000 is a very common stamp and has a Scott catalogue value of 25 cents (which is their minimum). In other words since it is not even MNH but unused once you soak it off the paper you might get a couple of pennies for it. |
