I'm curious about a few things I've come across lately...

I've recently bought a book off ebay
major varieties and constant plate flaws of Russian imperial postage stamps 1857-1917
well interesting I'm not sure about it's validity as reference (it's my first Russia specific catalogue) any opinions?
Listed is a unique plate flaw (dragon's head instead of eagles head) on the 1879 eighth definitive issue 7 kop (1example known) no image provided has anyone else have knowledge or perhaps a image of this?
I also I'm kinda lost about dr p.jem can anyone point me toward some information

Dr.P.Jemchouhin is the full name and he was an expert on Russian stamps. You will find his expertizing stamp on the back of many rare Russian stamps many of which are sold at auction. Do you intend to collect Russian material?

Was DR .P.Jemchouhin's stamp of authenticity easily bought or forged?

'm wondering why this stamp has been authenticated
Could this be a partial letter watermark?

Dr. Jem was a stamp dealer and so his mark is not necessarily indicative of a scarce or rare item.

Makes sense!
I couldn't find a reason aside from what looked kinda like a watermark

Or (missing) under-inked dashes in the background
Both far fetched
it makes sense that he would stamp to get top dollar for his name
On a common stamp (easily bought)

Back in the day this was just a security thing. In the '50s we had circuit books in Europe, but microfilm was uncommon. The little stamp was a way of trying to keep all honest

I thought this had something to do with them being sent to Siberia after their 4th place finish at the World Juniors. Carry on
