The basic issue with these types of discussions is that no two people are ever going to agree about how it "should" be done. It makes a lot of sense - philately is (most of the time) a solitary pursuit...
Sometimes I think the guy who uses (3x5 or 5x7) index stockcards for storage, and does a digital album to display the collection is the smartest of us all... It is genius in its simplicity.
I guess every person just shares what they like to do, and along with that there are strong opinions about how it should be done. This is excellent, as it gives other people good ideas.
But there is no one size fits all in this hobby...
