The first stamp is a GB revenue stamp, Foreign Bill, with denomination One pound, ten shillings, issued from 1871 onwards.
'These stamps were produced specifically for payment of the duties levied upon Foreign Bills of Exchange.'

The second stamp features Louis Riel. He had Canadian and American citizenships. He was a founder of the province of Manitoba in Canada. He was also a metis leader and was hanged in 1865 at the age of 41.
