I think that is an excellent way to establish a relationship. It's a perfect way to identify oneself, list one's collecting interests, list the societies one belongs to, include a list of what one is currently interested in buying & conditions, etc. That will give the dealer a good idea as to who is approaching them.
One thought before sending a letter: if the dealers are US, check the websites of the ASDA and NSDA to see if the dealers in question are members. Steve B.
