Hi, below you find an old Austrian stamp from around 1904: an Emperor Franz Joseph, pink carmine, 1 krone. Normally the perforation is 13 x 12,5. However, this one has 12,75 x 12,5. I measured it a couple of times with a Lighthouse perforation gauge, but it is definitely 12,75 and not 13. Is this of any relevance or consequences for its value?

Many catalogues round perforation gauges to halves, especially the older ones. Just over 12.75 x 12.5, thus would be listed as 13 x 12.5 in some catalogues.

Based on the Scott catalogue, believe this stamp dates to 1899.

This series has perforations ranging from 10.5 to 13.5. There are also
compound (mixed) perforation options

Further, if the perforation is 10.5 the stamp would
be 70c.

This stamp series also featured varnish bars
(on the front face) to prevent stamp cleaning
and reuse. (A topic I will leave to Austria
experts.)

This stamp can only be found perf. 10.5 line, 12.5 line and 10.5 & 12.5 compound, the last mentioned being rare.

With perforation being an inexact science when this stamp was issued (1899-1902) it will be a 12.5 line (the most common perf. type).

Hope this helps
