Thanks for the addtl background.
Am a fellow WW collector (ex US). Have been collecting for
more than 50 years. Would characterize my buying activity as frequent.
Majority of material acquired via traditional/long-time dealers, fellow collectors/vest pocket dealers, and
ebay. Listed in hierarchal order.
My experience with
ebay is that much of the philatelic offerings are overpriced. And the material in many instances not accurately described. Hence, if you opted to sell your collections via an
ebay dealer I probably would not be among your prospective buyers.
By contrast, if I saw that your collections/material was being offered via an established/reputable dealer (and the material was something of interest), I would likely be a prospective buyer.
Bottom line: For me established/reputable dealers are the preferred channel. For a host of reasons.
Recommend you contact Michael Ball (Tempe AZ), Larry Admundsen (St Louis area), and Don and Pat (DP Stamps, San Diego). Have made numerous purchases from
each across more than a decade.
While each has their respective niche, believe they are all knowledgeable, ethical, and
pleasant to work with.
Good luck.
