I think this is more of an illustration from advertising or somesuch rather than a forgery to fool collectors and that the B.C.A. on the back is just another illustration from the flip side of the page.
It looks similar to the image used in the old Lincoln catalogues C1900 or so.
The irony is there are no Gambia stamps that look like this. The first type are the famous 'cameo' issues, produced from 1869 to 1893. Always popular and some of the most beautiful stamps ever produced I'd say.
Oh Yes, that is understood, it is a hand drawn facsimile. However, I believe the design mimics the 1880 perf design, that would be shown in early stamp albums. A guide to where to place your stamps.
