I bought a ton of stamps and most are used but hinged in a liberty book, I want to remove them. I have read to use warm water with a few drops of dawn in it and that works well.

Is that advisable ?

Thanks

There is some information that may be helpful already posted in the Forum at: https://goscf.com/t/48014. The article by Bill Weiss at Stampsmarter is also useful: https://stampsmarter.org/learning/H...eHinges.html

I would not suggest using Dawn or other adulterants.
And you'll want to attend to any stamps with original gum assuming you want to keep the OG.

As Jleb states, water, water and nothing but the water.
