I don't have my catalog handy right now. It is Japan, from first half of the 20th century. I can tell you it is a very common stamp, so don't get your hopes up for the catalog value.

It is a very pretty stamp. I've always enjoyed seeing it.

Oh man I thought I really had something here, since "Japanese green chicken stamp" google search didn't return much. how come there isn't a stamp wiki that you can search for based on characteristics of a stamp or find matches based on an uploaded image of a stamp? Or does that exist and I just haven't ran across it yet? I guess that's pretty much what this site, maybe even better.

OK, I have an older Scott catalog with me.

I stand corrected, the stamp was issued in 1951, so I was wrong about guessing it was issued in the first half of the 20th Century.

In the Scott catalog, it is #513; used stamp valued at the Scott catalog minimum of 20c.

Next time, instead of chicken, type rooster or cock.

Not sure because one of the characters is blurry, but it looks like a Tokyo postmark.
