Japan 3 Sen 1913 No Wmk

Ok first off sorry I have so many questions!
This one is more of a understanding of what I could be looking at
I thought it was just gunk build up(and it very well could be!)
But it appears the PM is above and below the gunk
When I rubbed the stamp some of the darker PM
"Faded"
I don't wanna guess so I need some education
What am I looking at? (Attempt at re-using the stamp, gunk, glue)
I'll post a couple pictures to show as best as I can

Back in those days, stamps were not only applied to paper letters, but were also applied to cloth bags, burlap sacks, and other fabrics. In my collection, I have an entire cloth bag mailed from Hong Kong and a large block of Chinese stamps stuck to a piece of burlap. If you had simply licked the stamps, they would not have stuck to fabric. So my examples are smeared with glue, on the stamps, and on the fabric, to hold them on. In my opinion, based on these two items in my collection, you are looking at Japan stamps that were mailed on fabric, smeared with glue to hold them on.
