I have a booklet published in 1941 about photographs/portraits of Abraham Lincoln called "This is Abraham Lincoln".

There are 30 different "stamps" that have been stuck in the booklet. Under each one there is a descriptor of what was happening at that time and/or how the picture came to be.

Are these considered Cinderellas or just stickers?

These would be called Stickers or at best Poster stamps. If you use the broadest definition of Cinderella Stamps you could probably call them that. But, Stickers would probably be more appropriate.

Tough call. I could argue both sides of this one, and probably convince myself each time. If I had to pick, I'd lean toward "not quite" for my tastes, but that's just me.

I think the final designation will end up in the eye of the beholder. To a cinderella collector who likes them, they will definitely be cinderellas.

Those are interesting. I hadn't seen them before. I also could go either way on cinderella or sticker or poster stamp. Since it doesn't have a denomination or specific known use I would lean towards sticker/poster stamp.

As a Lincoln collector they would be of interest to me. ;)

....and as a Poster stamp is a Cinderella, then they must be Cinderellas !
The name of the company left side gives it away.

Londonbus1...coming soon- the definition of a sticker !

I'm not absolutely sure of the definition but for me, a "cinderella" looks like a postage stamp and usually was affixed to a cover. TB seals, Boys' Town stamps etc. etc are proper cindys IMHO. These are posters.

Poster stamps are Cinderellas.....of that there is no doubt !
And the items shown are Poster stamps not stickers.
Stickers is something I would buy for my 6 year-old daughter to put in her colouring book.

Definitions are a fascinating subject.

Londonbus1....not a bus at all, actually human !

In the "can't we all just get along" world there are no winners or losers, right and wrong are malleable concepts, and you can call them cinderellas - or not. It's up to you.

Thank you warrehouse for the welcome & thank you for the link, this is very informative & just what I needed! :-)

So a cinderella may/or may not necessarily be a postage stamp?

Several years ago (early 90's) the State of West Virignia had sheets of non-postage stamps that were actually sold at the post office. These stamps promoted scenic West Virginia as well as the industries of West Virginia such as glassmaking & coalmining. My guess is that these would be considered Cinderellas?

Indeed they would TLC !
Collectors, dealers, auctions all have their own ideas about Cinderellas. Warrehouse's opinions in his link to an earlier thread are just that, hence the argument ! Tom's opinion are also....just that.
You will see Revenues listed as Cinderellas.....and you will not.
You will see Poster stamps listed as Cinderellas.....and you will not
You will see Christmas Seals listed as Cinderellas...and not

And so on.
Everyone and every place has their own ideas and that is the beauty of this collecting field.

In my Cinderella world, I collect anything that is not in a Stanley Gibbons or Scott world catalogue.
I am what would be termed, a general Cinderella collector, much the same way that a worldwide collector could be called a general collector of Postage stamps.
Yes, there are aspects of Cinderella collecting that I rarely touch, much like a Postage stamp collector has countries or formats that he [or she] does not collect.
Artistamps and Micro-Nations to name but two.

That's my 50 agorot's woth anyway.
Take it or leave it, listen or not.

But remember one thing

I'm not sure if you guys know about this site but I found it a few weeks ago. \It is the most helpful place I found for identifying Cinderellas and Revenues.
It's a must see if you haven't already.
