On October 1, 1995 the USA issued a sheet of 20 different, 32c "Comic Strip Classics" stamps showing scenes and characters from some of the country's best newspaper "funnies". Two of these stamps depict three characters.

Top stamp depicts George McManus's (1884-1954) Bringing Up Father, also known as Maggie and Jiggs. This comic strip first began in 1911 and it focuses on a nouveau riche immigrant family. Bottom stamp shows Chic Young's (1901-1973) Blondie. It first appeared in 1930 and involves the Bumstead family (Dagwood and Blondie, Their two children, and dogs). Blondie is the level-headed one; Dagwood is always running late for work (hence, running into mailman) or fixing a "Dagwood" (colossal) sandwich.

This June 8, 1982 20c stamp (Sc #2012) of the USA depicts one generation of the Barrymore family of actors. Stamp is part of the "Performing Arts" series of commemoratives.

The patriarch of this family is Maurice Barrymore (1849-1905), an Indian-born British stage actor. His three (movie actor) children portrayed on this stamp are (left to right): John Barrymore (1882-1942), Ethel Barrymore (1879-1959), and Lionel Barrymore (1878-1954).

There are more/further Barrymore actors, most notably John's son John Drew Barrymore, and John Drew Barrymore's daughter (Maurice's great granddaughter) Drew (b. 1975).

The Three Le Nain Brothers, Antoine, Louis and Mathieu, French painters in the 17th-century, painting by Antoine Le Nain (c.1600–1648), engraved by Claude Andreotto and issued by Monaco on October 20, 1988 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of Antoine Le Nain:

Two of the 3 values (Facit #s 932-3) from Norway's February 24, 1984 "Norwegian Working and Postal Life" set of stamps, depict three persons. The 2.50 kroner stamp shows mail sorting, and the 3.50 kroner stamp features mail delivery.

This September 6, 1941 ten centimes stamp (Sc #280) of Switzerland commemorates the 750th anniversary of Bern. Stamp depicts two workers building the city's walls under the direction of Berchtold V, Duke of Zaehringen and founder of Bern.
