On March 31, 2010 the USA issued this 44c stamp (Sc #4445) honoring cartoonist and caricaturist William Henry "Bill" Mauldin (1921-2003). From USPS, "Mauldin developed his uncanny talent for making pointed statements in cartoon form while serving as a soldier in World War II. His characters Willie and Joe, two unshaven infantrymen, gave readers a refreshing look look at military life for the average soldier...After the war, Mauldin's cartoons attacked racism and other targets. 'I was a born troublemaker and might as well make a living at it', Mauldin wrote in his autobiography, The Brass Ring." |

Two of the seven values from Great Britain's November 8, 2011 "Christmas - 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible" depict three figures. The 1.10 pounds stamp (SG #3247) shows an angel visiting two shepherds, and the 1.65 pounds value (SG #3248) depicts the Magi and the Star of Bethlehem. These stamps were issued as both water-activated and self-adhesive varieties. The self-adhesive varieties are shown here. |
