Here is a nice postcard from Wein (Vienna), Austria dated 10.8.92 that was sent to Melbourne, Australia. The 2kr postcard was uprated with a 3kr stamp.

Postcard has a Melbourne SE 15 92 backstamp indicating a transit time of 37 days from Austria to Australia.

Nice one Bobby !

Jill has the low down, NOT sewing Machines.......

Hi Rodney,

I don't think the Melbourne Pfaff, Pinschof & Co. had anything to do with the Pfaff sewing machine company.
The Sands & McDougall's Melbourne & suburb directories from 1885, 1890 , 1895 and later describe the company as Importers and general merchants, then General importers and paper merchants.

Alfred Pfaff was the Victorian consul for Peru, and Carl Pinschof was Consul for Austria-Hungary.

Interesting biography for Carl Pinschof:

and mention of the company as publishers:

Cheers, Jill

Thanks for all the information about the company and the people involved in the company.

Some of the people had a few rough spells during their life despite all their accomplishments.

Amazing what people can come up with as far as information is concerned.

I always find it hard to reconcile American History with Australian history
For instance Bobby's cover is dated just 6 days before "Butch Cassidy" robbed his first bank.

"I always find it hard to reconcile American History with Australian history."

I first visited Australia about 35 or so years ago and then moved here about 9 years after my first visit I find it hard to believe how much the country has changed.

Population has exploded along with prices - especially real estate. Completely different country in many ways now.
