Washington Dc, New Member, Spent Covid Cataloging A Multi-Generational Collection

New to the forum and wish I had looked for this site a long time ago. My wife and I have been diligently working through our multi-generational collection for the past year. It has been an incredibly rewarding and educational experience. Frustration, excitement, hopelessness, and a sense of accomplishment are all emotions we get to experience every day. Sorting and cataloging the collection has provided great enjoyment for us during our isolation.

We are slightly over 1/2 way through the collection indexing and trying to figure out our path forward. We have enjoyed the Asian stamps, but lack interest in trying to work through the first day covers and other stamp regions. We want to be respectful of the time and investment made by our parents, however, a room dedicated to stamps is not something we want.

We do not have any urgency or need to sell, which provides us the ability to come up with a thoughtful plan. It is an incredible collection and hopeful to get some ideas going forward. We had wanted to attend a Philatelic Convention to meet others, but with COVID we have been unable to do so. Perhaps this forum is what we needed all along.

It's a work in progress. As you can guess, the amount of time to sort through it all has been quite a challenge.

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ
