I started collecting when I was 12 and now am now semi-retired. My collecting over the years has exclusively consisted of trading stamps or having stamps given to me by various people who knew I liked to collect stamps.

I had a hiatus for nearly a decade when my first wife of 35 years passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer. God ultimately brought another wonderful woman into my life and we are celebrating our 7 year anniversary this coming weekend.

I recently decided to pick my collection back up and start working on it. One question to start, I'm a bit of a computer nerd purchasing my first personal computer (an Apple II+) in 1980 and I'm interested in a program to help with organizing my collection. After a bit of search online there seems to be 2 primary candidates: Eztamp and StampManage. Does anyone have any experience with either software and any recommendation?

timbre-poste,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ

Thanks Calstamp. I had done those searches and mostly found older threads. Technology moves so fast that if it is over a year old there is probably a better answer out there somewhere. When I posted I was hoping someone could share current experience with either of those (or another) software package.

Thanks Andyrich74. I collect casually worldwide but have 2 specific areas of interests: Monegasque stamps (especially 1959 to 1978) and the Central African Republic (including French Equatorial Africa and Central African Empire).

Good stuff, just finished French West Africa and am one stamp away from completing French Guinea. Would love to see some photos/scans of your collection. Probably better suited in a different forum subject though.

Hi timbre-poste - I don't know anything much about the software you mention, though I have seen reference to StampManage here. I think if you search that term, you should find someone who has some experience with it. I love computers, too, but when it comes to my stamp collection I do it the old fashioned way. (Had a Tandy personal computer that my father "built" for himself in the mid-1980s - he died in 1987 - and was a geek for that time.)

Welcome aboard this great forum.
