So I already have Czechoslovakia 95% complete MNH, decent collections of 1918-1945 Germany MNH and 1918-1938 Austria MNH, with plans to obviously work backwards and expand into colonies. USA 1900-1934 also done. About to start Commonwealth to '52.

How crazy would I be to add France, Belgium, and their colonies (to end of WWII or independence)? So tempted... but don't want things to be so overwhelming that I collapse at the thought of the project's size. Jump in? Wait for a milestone with the others? Thoughts?

Go for it. If it's too much you can always pause it come back to it later.

French Colonies are, in general, a lot cheaper than GB, so you could make more encouraging progress.

Belgium MNH can be found back to the 1910s as can French Colonies. MNH French Colonies before 1910 are extremely difficult and almost impossible to complete. Agree with Geoff that Commonwealth is a much more expensive proposition (exceedingly so) and MNH before 1938 is treacherous at best. So to some degree your approach will be guided by budget, your condition requirements, and goals.

When you say Commonwealth to '52, how early do you think you want to start this area?

I figure I'd work on KGVI (including occupation and Indian states) until I hit a $$ wall, then work back to KGV, KEVII, and QV.

My approach has always been to nab the low-hanging fruit first, to give myself something to look at while I save and hunt for the "big game." It means that for a while there are empty pages, or years 95% complete, but it's collecting, after all.

Maybe I focus on France and Belgium with intent, and grab BC as my wallet allows. Hadn't really thought about France until I bought a Spink-Maury on a lark a few days ago, but this could work out.
