I was dealing with mostly French Colonies, these were curly, as listed in Scott under "M"

There is a simple elegance with their designs.

The image below is the design for the 3 high values of the 1930 Postage Due set illustrated in Rod's last image above. Definitely my favorite design from Middle Congo.

Had quite some learning today, I have grown up reading Oubangui,
so could not find stamps in Scott (Ubangi)

MOC pages, now made by Lighthouse. These are now the only printed album pages made for the range of French Colonies (with the exception of Palo's expensive printings of Steiner pages). The mounts are clear - the pages have a black border in which the stamp sits, with catalogue number. Drawback is Lighthouse prices.

The French Congo (French: Congo français) or Middle Congo (French: Moyen-Congo) was a French colony which at one time comprised the present-day area of the Republic of the Congo and parts of Gabon, and the Central African Republic. In 1910, it was made part of the larger French Equatorial Africa.

Modern Republic of the Congo is considered French Congo's successor state, having virtually identical borders, and having inherited rights to sovereignty and independence from France through the dissolution of French Equatorial Africa in the late 1950s.
