Dull Rose 4d Ceylon Stamp

Hello all,
Does anybody else on here own one? I have a used one in my collection and was gobsmacked to see they can be worth between £4000-£7000.
Is that true or am I going mad!

Please advise.

Catalogue Value £50,000

That is Mint unused.
Yours, if correctly identified, is used.
then is depends on how badly used.

In 2002 (Lot 532) this stamp sold for $1,500
It is nice to dream, but always be prepared for a wake-up.

Look for :
Repaired corners
Watermark
Not trimmed edges from Sc#19

The world is full of trickery.

That would be a very nice stamp to have in your collection.

The catalogue price would be for a stamp that is rectangular and not cut to shape, there should be a margin to all four sides of the design as far as possible, it should not have faults and a clean cancellation.

If this is not the case, the price drops considerably. If it is cut to shape, there is very little value to it. Those clear margins tend to be an issue as they are with the GB embossed stamps.

It is not SL 1859 4d SG 4 because the stamp shown here is perforated.
It is most likely SL 1867 4d SG 65b.

Clearer image of both the front and the back would help to confirm.
