I have watched experts dip a C3a in ronsonol, so I think it's safe for anything we might want to use it on.

Chiapas asks if there is any downside to using 70% isopropyl alcohol. Well, the other 30% is water so you probably wouldn't want to use this on mint stamps or stamps with fugitive inks that run in water

Agreed, not to mention that alcohol can fade/remove manuscript cancels.

I don't do a lot of watermark detection, but I always have a bottle of Ronsonol around the house for other uses. I mostly use it to remove price tags and crud from book covers and dustjackets, record sleeves, CD jewel cases, DVD cases, etc. It does the job so much better than Goo-Gone or any of that greasy orange oil garbage.
