Re your Cochin O63 Tony - I don't like the look of the SURCHARGED either and I think it could well be O62 which has been "improved". Presumably B&K will give you a refund if it proves to be a dud? |

I'd certainly hope B&K would refund the price - but looking at the offending area under the scanner, the ON of the Service overprint does seem to fall on top of the SURCHARGED. I'll have to find the time to dig out Don Griffin's series of articles on the Cochin surcharges in India Post years ago. |

You may be a bit harsh there, Spocky, His highness served with the red cross ambulance service which I would imagine to be near the front line. Quite deserving of "brave" I would think, for a ruler of a princely state?

And here are two old stereo viewer slides of Captain Rana Ranjitsingh with his ambulance unit: A really thoughtful contribution to the War effort, I think. |

Interesting site, Rod. My cards don't have a maker's name on them, only that they were made by Royal command, and the dire warning that copyright remains with HH King George V.
Don't have a suitable stereo viewer either. I might have to start haunting the junk shops in search of one ... but then, that might start me off on a new area of collecting. Things are quite bad enough as it is! |

I think you should go for something understated, for that extra punch. How about "Omnipotent" ?

Here's something a bit different for the Bhor enthusiasts here. I know of at least two, and one of them is me. Something you don't see every day - SG 3 on cover. I don't know what the status of this item is, given the uncertainty about whether the Bhor State Post Office closed before SG 3 was issued, but it was once part of the collection of HDS Haverbeck, one of the major 'names' of Indian States collecting, and to my eye is quite an attractive cover. Can anyone translate the script? The back is plain apart from a few pencil annotations by previous owners. |

We have come a long way from mindfullness, not to deface the monarch, to the current marker monkey.

Exactly! Show me another country that printed its stamps in a soap works This sheet should be genuine, too - unlike many Rajasthan overprints. |
