Hi Tony Got back from Indipex on Wednesday. It was quite OK. There were so many frames exhibited - quite informative and good. As far as the sales were concerned - I feel the prices quoted were high - maybe because of the hype that was around. There was an elderly gentleman from Australia (Brisbane I think) who was searching for "Bundi" stamps at a dealer's stall. All in all OK - but expensive for collectors....
I got the TC sheets - 160nos in each. My dealer had carried it to Delhi where we met. Also some of my missing "Cochins"... Will post them in the forum.
And thanks for the feedback on the Kishengarh stamps.
Regards Thomas |

Thanks, Thomas. Now I wonder who that was from Brisbane looking for Bundi ...
Looking forward to seeing your Cochin when you have the time! |

Dear Tony,
Going to indepex is a waste of time you would be better off watching reruns of the ashes :) unless you have a secret desire to be part of a scam that involves stamps |

Well, there was an exhibit of Dhar there that I would have very much liked to see - much more than re-viewing the Ashes ... |

Although it's a bit like trainspotting to me, I'm so glad your passion gets a better run here than at that other god-forsaken place! |

Well, well, the more we can spread appreciation of the true beauty of the Uglies (leaving aside Travancore, which is not beautiful at all), the better ... |

This stamp has not arrived yet, so this scan is the best I can provide at the moment. Is it enough to form an opinion? The lines look a bit heavy to me, and the whole thing lacks a certain crispness. Thoughts? |

Cjd, this looks like a Benns type F3 forgery. When it arrives, check the paper. The paper on the forgery is said to have 'a faint grey tone to it. It is medium thickness but appears patchy against the light and has a mesh of indeterminate direction'. Benns believed it was typographed (the genuine were litho) and to be of recent (1970s) Indian origin. |

By the way, Tholath, I have a few spare blocks of 12 of the unoverprinted Kishangarh ¼ Anna. They're not worth putting up for sale, but if you'd like one, just email me your address, and I'll send you one. |

Thomas, it's nothing. Those blocks are worth so little, it wouldn't be worth offering them for sale. I'd rather give them away to collectors who will appreciate them. |
