Stamps4Life: yes I saw that link. Also about a cholera outbreak that mentioned that district.
Your cancel is the Plain circle type.Above the crescent and star there is a date. The cancel is in Urdu script.

ok, so im beginning to get afraid.... I have a number of these 1/2a Hyderabad, Scott A3 stamps. I show 4 here. The 1st on the L has no line designs in the center circle. The next maybe faint ones show. But the catalog lists the stamp as lines showing like the 3rd and 4th ones. Best 1 can tell they are all 12 1/2 perf. Is there a type w/o the lines in the design? I dont see the listing. Thank you

All 4 stamps show lines, first stamp it's very faint. Just had a peak at a SG catalog and now I'm confused!! Hopefully a well versed collector will come along and help. I have very limited experience in this area.

In the ˝a the squiggly lines are there but can be faint due to the printing.
The varieties listed by SG are parts of the inscriptions ommited.

Thanks both!! Got it. I'm new, fairly, to SG and was just wondering if they mention the no lines and I'm missing it or that your just suppose to know. If I'm missing I it. I did not see that I remember that desc in Scott.

In the Nayeem book 'Hyderabad Philatelic history'1980; on pages 164,168 there is an explication for the mesh work in the central field.
Quote; (In a large number of these stamps the mesh work in the central background is either entirely missing or only just visible.Probably due to the wearing out of the plate this has resulted. But,simultaneously with plain centre varieties, the other portion of the stamp appear darker and bold. Thus, giving doubts for the wearing of the mesh background. So,we may suppose that the mesh-work was not provided in some of the plates made later on.)

perf12 - thank you very much for looking that up!! Sorry for the trouble here but if you may - the below I have the central circle engraving is more of straight horizontal lines that squigly circles listed for type 3. Also, the inner circle is open (Left arrow). I see in SG a B variety for the circle but I dont think my circle is the same. Also for the T 3 variety the center lines are squigly not horizontal like mine. Finally, all I have are 1/2a and I cannot tell due to the cancel - is mine a 1a or 4a- I cannot tell. what do you think? Thank you again and for supplying the name of the book...

The background work in the center is different for each value.
Also the circle differs a bit in it's design.
1a_horizontal lines
2a_horiz. wavy lines
3a_no background
4a-concentric circles
8a-squiggely lines
12a_horizontal braided lines.
